This plot line is entirely invented: Pristina airport at the time was controlled by Yugoslav Army, which turned it over to the Russians when they arrived. (The character of Aslan-bek "Bek" Yetkhoev, played by actor Gosha Kutsenko, is based on Yunus-bek Yevkurov, the recently retired head of the Russian republic of Ingushetia, who led the Russian special forces contingent involved in the 1999 Pristina airport incident). After that, they are to hold out until the Russian paratroopers arrive from Bosnia. In the film, a disgraced former Russian special forces officer, Aslan-bek "Bek" Yetkhoev, is tasked with a dangerous covert mission – to gather some of his former team members and take over Pristina airport from a group of marauding Kosovar Albanian militants (modeled on the Kosovo Liberation Army or KLA) who are using it as their headquarters. So how does a filmmaker manage to turn a minor spat, during which not a shot was fired, into a blockbuster action thriller? Simple: just add a massive set-piece battle that never happened. Later, a contingent of British paratroopers arrived and, after a tense but short standoff, the Russians managed to get permission to participate in the peacekeeping mission, with their own sector to patrol in the northern part of the region. In fact, Russian paratroopers unexpectedly arrived at Pristina airport ahead of NATO peacekeeping forces on the morning of June 12, 1999. There’s just one problem: the film’s plot is a near-total fabrication, and it is packed with distortions and unsubtle propaganda. Since its release, Russian state media and Kremlin-friendly organizations have praised it for portraying the “truth” about what took place at the end of the Kosovo conflict. A certain form of enlightenment is needed, and this can be achieved through a quality cultural program both in cinemas and in theaters. That is the plot of “ The Balkan Line,” a military action drama film that was jointly produced by the culture ministries of Russia and Serbia, released in March and distributed by 20th Century Fox of Russia. Unfortunately, younger generations are growing up with programs that are reluctant, and this is the cancer of our society. Does culture require catharsis?Ĭulture is on the hazy legs, that's a fact. Kitsch and Shund are something that is every day. In the difficult times of globalization, culture is somehow left aside.Enriching your life for one experience, it is important to maintain the stability of the character. From the role to the role you are dealing with something different, what your character deals with. It is therefore important to deal with yourself and your own psyche in that it does not allow you to disrupt your role and in some way, in a bad way, changes you as a person. Each role leaves some precipitate in you. There is no exact system for exiting the role, psychologically. Is it as difficult for you to get out of the role as an actor, bearing in mind that it is a war theme and a period that our people can hardly forget?.It makes me full, and it's pretty much about how much this kind of film was needed here. Personally, great satisfaction and a reward for hard work are that the audience, after each projection, gets up and with thunderous applause and ovations. It seems that we have reached a figure of 250,000 views, which is very satisfactory.

I think that the audience received the movie well, it's still in the cinema. Does it give you the satisfaction and wind in the back as a podium for new achievements? The viewers are looking for more tickets, and the reviews are positive. Naime, čitajući scenario, shvatio sam da se ovaj događaj više tiče nas nego Rusa. Ideja o ovoj temi potekla je od ruske produkcije.

  • This is a Serbian-Russian co-production, where you, along with your colleague, Miodrag Radonjić, have been in the role of producer for the first time.
  • U poslednjih nekoliko decenija, srpski narod svijetu je prikazan u negativnom kontekstu, te smo zbog toga istinu stavili kao primarni cilj”, kaže u intervjuu za naš portal srpski glumac i producent Miloš Biković.įor those who have not yet seen this accomplishment, Biković explains that the film was inspired by the actual event that took place in June 1999 when the Russian paratroopers' battalion made a descent to Slatina Airport in Priština Bilo nam je važno da ne povrijedimo sjećanje na žrtve. Trudili smo se da što bliže publici predočimo dio istorije koji se dogodio nedavno i da to bude određena lekcija. „Sa velikom dozom odgovornosti smo snimali film Balakanska međa.
